Astrologist.com ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website at astrologist.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our services, including the birth chart generator, compatibility tools, and AI-powered chat. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Service.
We collect: Account Information (email address, password hashed securely, and account status data such as email verification and complimentary chat access); Birth Details (date, time, place of birth for chart generation); Partner Birth Details (when using the compatibility tool); Ebook Sign-up (email address and IP address; signing up may create a free account); Contact Form (name, email address and message); Usage Data (browser type, pages visited, device info, IP address received by our servers and analytics services). Only if you accept analytics do we also measure page views ourselves: a server-side session with a random identifier is used, and we record the pages you view and a periodic activity signal while the page is open; for signed-in users who have accepted analytics we keep records of the minutes in which they were active. Without that choice, no first-party measurement takes place. We use network information, such as your IP address, to protect the Service against abuse. Astrologist.com is currently a free service: we do not process payments or collect payment card details.
On your first visit we show a banner asking whether you accept analytics, with equal "Accept" and "Reject" options. Until you choose, and if you choose Reject, Google Analytics is not loaded and our own page-view measurement does not run. If you choose Accept, Google Analytics is loaded and our own page-view measurement starts. Google Analytics provides us with aggregated reports about how visitors use the website. You can change your choice at any time via Cookie Settings (footer link or the Cookie Settings control on the page). Withdrawing consent stops further analytics: Google Analytics is switched off in your browser, its _ga cookies are deleted, and the random identifier used for our own measurement is removed from your session. Data collected before the withdrawal is not deleted by this.

We also use browser localStorage to store your most recent birth details and chart, compatibility details you enter, and preferences such as dismissed banners.
We use your information to: generate birth charts and personalized interpretations; power AI chat responses; manage your account (including any complimentary chat access); if you accept analytics, analyze usage via Google Analytics and our own page-view measurement; send transactional emails (email verification, account setup, password resets, ebook downloads, and complimentary access notices); and provide customer support.
Google Analytics — only loaded after you choose Accept; uses cookies to collect information about how visitors use the website and provides us with aggregated reports; Google's processing is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. OpenAI — powers AI chat and birth chart and compatibility interpretations. For birth chart interpretations only the calculated sign context is sent; for compatibility, sign-level information for both people and the compatibility context are sent; for AI chat, your birth details (date, time and place), chart, question, recent conversation, and partner birth details and chart if supplied may be sent. OpenAI states that data submitted through its API is not used to train or improve its models by default unless the API customer explicitly opts in to share data for that purpose. Resend — delivers transactional emails using your email address; contact-form name, email address and message are sent through Resend to the site operator. OpenStreetMap Nominatim — when you search for a birth place, the place text is sent from our server to Nominatim to look up coordinates. AskNow and MaxBounty — some pages link to the third-party AskNow service; attribution is handled through MaxBounty; we do not attach a persistent visitor identifier to these links; conversion information, which may include an IP address, may be returned to us and stored. Brevo — We use Brevo to manage our email mailing list. If you choose to receive occasional astrology updates when creating an account, your email address is added to our Brevo mailing list. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.
Account information, account activity records, ebook sign-up data and affiliate conversion data are stored in our database as described above. You may request deletion of your account and personal data by contacting support@astrologist.com, subject to applicable legal retention requirements. Birth details and charts from our free tools are not stored in our application database; your most recent birth details and chart are saved in your browser's local storage. Chat history is kept in the open page while you are chatting and is not permanently stored in our database. It is lost when you leave or reload the page.
You may request access to or correction of your account data by contacting us at support@astrologist.com. You may request deletion of your account and personal data by contacting support@astrologist.com, subject to applicable legal retention requirements. You can withdraw your analytics consent yourself at any time via "Cookie Settings". EEA residents may have additional GDPR rights, including the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS/SSL). Passwords are hashed using industry-standard cryptographic algorithms. Access to personal data is restricted to authorized personnel.
Our Service is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18.
Some of our third-party service providers may process personal data in countries outside your country of residence. Their handling of international transfers is governed by their applicable privacy terms and data-protection arrangements.
