Venus Opposite Chiron: Finding Your Worth Mirrored in Others

Venus opposite Chiron means Venus and Chiron were 172° to 188° apart at birth, facing each other across the chart. Oppositions are usually read through other people: what sits across from a planet is often noticed first in partners, friends or rivals, and only later owned.

With Venus at one end, the theme is love, attraction and value. With Chiron at the other, it is an old sensitivity. Together they describe a pattern in which questions of worth tend to come up inside relationships rather than in private.

How it can play out

Drawn to people who are hurting. Some people with this opposition notice a pull toward partners who need looking after, and slip into the role of the one who soothes.

Or to people who seem to hold the cure. The reverse shows up as well: admiring someone because they appear to have the confidence or ease that feels out of reach, and hoping some of it rubs off.

Fairness as a sore point. Who gives more, who is valued more, who apologises first. Balance between two people may matter intensely, and small imbalances can feel large.

Worth seen through someone else's eyes. Compliments may feel true only when they come from one particular person, which can place a heavy load on a single relationship.

The developmental work, in the evolutionary reading, is to recognise in yourself the worth you see or seek in others. That describes a dynamic to notice, not a forecast about anyone's love life.

Chiron always carries the R

Venus's link to the Sun decides this one. With Venus across the zodiac from Chiron, and never more than about 47° from the Sun, the Sun can come no closer than about 125° to Chiron. That always falls inside Chiron's retrograde season, which needs the Sun at least about 100° away.

In our sample of 51,501 Greenwich noon charts (every date from 1 January 1920 to 31 December 2060, the full Chiron range of the calculator) the opposition appeared on 2,075 days, 4.03%, about one in 25. Chiron was retrograde on all of them, against 39.5% of all sampled days. The Sun was also opposite Chiron on 12.9% of those days; that version has its own page, Sun opposite Chiron.

Venus was retrograde on 6.0% of opposition days. Venus only retrogrades around the time it passes between Earth and the Sun, so a retrograde Venus opposite Chiron always comes with the Sun near the same point, and in those charts both Venus and Chiron carry an R.

About once a year, with occasional long loops

The opposition came round about once a year: 145 noon windows in 141 years. A plain pass lasted 12 to 28 days at noon, typically 12 or 13. Seven windows included a Venus retrograde; the longest ran 61 days, from 19 January to 20 March 1942. Out-of-sign oppositions made up 14.3% of opposition days. With Chiron in Aries, from 2018 to 2027, most opposition days put Venus in Libra, one of the two signs Venus rules.

Autumn 2026: three exact oppositions

The calculator shows one of those loops in 2026, with Chiron crossing back from Taurus into Aries at the same time. Positions are for London at noon.

Date Venus Chiron Orb
10 September 0°04' Scorpio 0°15' Taurus, retrograde 0.18°
28 October 28°08' Libra, retrograde 28°14' Aries, retrograde 0.10°
28 November 26°40' Libra 26°56' Aries, retrograde 0.27°

The first noon window ran from 31 August to 26 September, and Chiron slipped back into Aries on 18 September. Venus turned retrograde around 3 October at 8°29' Scorpio, about 9° from exact, so the line was absent at noon from 27 September to 11 October. The second window opened on 12 October. Venus turns direct around 14 November at 22°52' Libra, still 4.6° inside the orb, and that window runs to 10 December: 60 days in all.

Around 24 October Venus passes between Earth and the Sun. At London noon that day Venus at 0°34' Scorpio is still 2.15° from opposite Chiron in late Aries, an out-of-sign opposition, and the Sun at 1°03' Scorpio is opposite Chiron too. Anyone born across those weeks has the Venus line; the sign pair and the closeness are what change.

A simpler single pass came a year earlier. At London noon on 2 November 2025 Venus at 24°26' Libra was 0.29° from opposite Chiron at 24°08' Aries, retrograde, inside a window that ran from 27 October to 7 November.

Finding it on your chart

On your free birth chart an opposition is the dashed red line running across the wheel, here between ♀ and ⚷. Check that the table puts them 172° to 188° apart. Chiron is only calculated for birth dates from 1920 to 2060.

Without a birth time, Venus's lines still come from the noon reference position. On 13.6% of sampled opposition days the noon orb was within 1° of the 8° limit, and on 7.2% within half a degree, so for those dates the birth hour decides whether the line is drawn.
