Jupiter Transits to Natal Uranus: Two Movers, One Fixed Point

Updated October 26, 2026 · Astrologist.com Editorial

← Back to Transits

Jupiter transits to natal Uranus are the moments when moving Jupiter is exactly 0°, 60°, 90°, 120° or 180° from the place Uranus held at your birth, counting both sides of the circle, so eight points in all. Jupiter takes roughly twelve years to go round the zodiac, so within a few decades it reaches each of those points more than once.

This page keeps one birth, one natal Uranus and one window, and follows two different moving planets against it: Jupiter, the subject, and Saturn, as a comparison. What was measured for this one invented birth, from 2000 to 2030:

  • Jupiter came back; Saturn did not. Jupiter made 28 crossings in 20 visits, reaching every one of the eight points two or three times. Saturn made 18 crossings in 8 visits, one visit per point, so no Saturn return to a point can be measured inside this window at all.
  • Jupiter's spacing was close to twelve years, with one exception. From the first crossing of one Jupiter visit to the first crossing of the next visit at the same point took 11.92 to 11.96 years, except at the waxing square, where a single crossing was followed by a visit of three and the gap was 11.34 years.
  • Spans are measured, not assumed. Jupiter's four visits of three crossings ran 213 to 229 days from first to last crossing; Saturn's five ran 253 to 272 days. A visit with one crossing has no first-to-last span at all. That is not a statement about how long any contact "lasts", and it gives no ratio to compare.

Uranus is often read as change, independence and surprise, and Jupiter as growth, perspective and optimism. A Jupiter contact to natal Uranus is one optional lens for reflection. It causes nothing and predicts nothing.

Educational guide only. Astrologist.com has no transit tool: no transit calendar, return chart or timing report. The free birth chart shows natal positions only, and every date below was computed offline for an invented person.

One birth, one fixed target, one window

The birth and window are reused, on purpose, from Saturn transits to natal Uranus, so the Saturn figures here can be checked against that page. Everything was recalculated for this page at code commit a4f05450; the Saturn results came out the same, crossing for crossing.

  • Birth: 07:50 on 9 December 1981 in Rotterdam, an invented person. The Netherlands kept Central European Time (UT+1) that winter, so this is 06:50 UT.
  • Natal Uranus: unrounded 241.400925° (1°24'03.3" Sagittarius), moving forward at 0.060° a day. The chart stores 241.40° and displays 1°24' Sagittarius. After the birth this value never changes: both moving planets are measured against the same single longitude.
  • Window: from 1 January 2000, 00:00 UT, up to but not including 1 January 2030, 00:00 UT; ages 18.06 to 48.06. The window is a choice for this example only.
  • Method: Jupiter, Saturn and natal Uranus all come from the astronomia package's VSOP87B planetary theory, as used by the chart, with Universal Time converted to the ephemeris time scale exactly as the chart does it. Each mover was sampled every six hours, crossings narrowed to under thirty seconds and turning points to about a minute; these are calculation tolerances, not accuracy claims. Dates are UT, and dates after October 2026 are forward calculations.

Grouping. A visit, or group, is the set of crossings of one target made while the moving planet stays within 30° of it. It counts as complete when the planet is more than 30° away before the first crossing and after the last. Jupiter's and Saturn's groups are counted separately, each on its own laps. A turning point exactly on a target would be a touch, not a crossing.

Jupiter's twenty visits

In the window, Jupiter starts at 25°13' Aries moving forward, its lowest point, and ends at 20°34' Scorpio still moving forward, its highest: 925.34° of path, two full laps plus 205.34°, with 54 turning points. Longitudes from 25°13' Aries to 20°34' Scorpio are passed on three laps and the rest on two, which is why four of the points get three visits and four get two.

Contact to Uranus Target Visits (crossings in brackets)
Opposition (180°) 1°24' Gemini 7 Jul 2000 D, 14 Jan 2001 R, 5 Feb 2001 D (3); 17 Jun 2012 (1); 31 May 2024 (1)

Conjunction (0°) 1°24' Sagittarius 30 Nov 2006 (1); 14 Nov 2018 (1)
Waxing sextile (60°) 1°24' Aquarius 11 Jan 2009 (1); 25 Dec 2020 (1)
Waxing square (90°) 1°24' Pisces 24 Jan 2010 (1); 29 May 2021 D, 12 Jul 2021 R, 5 Jan 2022 D (3)
Waxing trine (120°) 1°24' Aries 17 Jun 2010 D, 28 Aug 2010 R, 30 Jan 2011 D (3); 18 May 2022 D, 14 Oct 2022 R, 2 Jan 2023 D (3)

D = forward, R = backward; every single crossing was made moving forward. That is 16 single visits and 4 visits of three. All 20 are complete inside the window, and between crossings of one visit Jupiter never got more than 9.83° from the target. The nearest any Jupiter turning point came to a target was a forward turn on 25 January 2001 at 1°11' Gemini, 0.21° below the opposition point, in the middle of the 2000 to 2001 visit; no turning point fell on a target, so there are no touches. At the window's start Jupiter was 23.83° from the nearest target and at the end 10.83°, so no visit is cut off.

Recurrence at each point, from the first crossing of one visit to the first crossing of the next at the same point:

  • Single visit to single visit: 11.95 to 11.96 years (conjunction, waxing sextile, waning trine, waning square, waning sextile, and the opposition from 2012 to 2024).
  • Visit of three to visit of three: 11.92 years (waxing trine, 2010 to 2022).
  • Visit of three to single visit: 11.95 years (opposition, 2000 to 2012).
  • Single visit to visit of three: 11.34 years (waxing square, 2010 to 2021). A visit of three starts with a forward crossing before Jupiter turns back, so its first date comes early.

The number of crossings is a property of each visit, not of the contact. The waxing square went from one crossing to three, and the opposition from three to one. Another birth, or another window, would give another pattern.

Saturn against the same point

Saturn's path in the same window covers 374.73°, from a forward turn at 10°17' Taurus on 12 January 2000 to a backward turn at 25°01' Taurus on 6 September 2029, with 58 turning points. Only the stretch from 10°17' to 25°01' Taurus is passed twice, and none of the eight targets lies in it, so Saturn makes exactly one visit to each.

Contact Jupiter visits (crossings each) Saturn visits (crossings each)
Conjunction 2 (1, 1) 1 (3), Jan to Oct 2015
Waxing sextile 2 (1, 1) 1 (3), Apr to Dec 2020
Waxing square 2 (1, 3) 1 (3), Mar to Dec 2023
Waxing trine 2 (3, 3) 1 (3), Jun 2025 to Feb 2026
Opposition 3 (3, 1, 1) 1 (1), 2 May 2001
Waning trine 3 (1, 1, 1) 1 (1), 27 Jul 2005
Waning square 3 (1, 1, 1) 1 (1), 13 Sep 2007
Waning sextile 3 (1, 1, 1) 1 (3), Nov 2009 to Aug 2010
All eight 20 visits, 28 crossings 8 visits, 18 crossings

The rows are same-contact summaries over one shared window, not matched events. Jupiter's and Saturn's visits belong to separate cycles: Jupiter's 2021 to 2022 waxing square visit and Saturn's 2023 waxing square visit are two different things that happen to involve the same target, and a "second" Jupiter visit has no Saturn counterpart.

None of Saturn's visits is cut off. Seven are confirmed complete inside the window. For the opposition, Saturn was still within 30° of the target when the window opened (it was last more than 30° below it on 14 March 1999), so that check relies on dates before the window; the visit itself has one crossing, inside the window. Saturn's nearest turning point to a target was a forward turn on 3 May 2008, 0.28° above the waning square point, which is why that visit has one crossing.

Spans, with their denominators. Of Jupiter's 20 visits, 4 have three crossings, and their first-to-last spans were 213.4 days (opposition, 2000 to 2001), 226.5 (waxing trine, 2010 to 2011), 220.9 (waxing square, 2021 to 2022) and 229.3 (waxing trine, 2022 to 2023). Of Saturn's 8, 5 have three crossings, spanning 267.2 (waning sextile), 272.1 (conjunction), 259.1 (waxing sextile), 261.7 (waxing square) and 253.4 days (waxing trine). In this window every Jupiter visit of three was shorter from first to last crossing than every Saturn one, but that is a measurement of nine visits, not a rule. The other 16 Jupiter visits and 3 Saturn visits have a single crossing and a first-to-last span of zero; dividing anything by them is undefined, so no duration ratio is given.

Speed at the crossing. At its single crossings Jupiter was moving 0.21° to 0.23° a day and Saturn 0.12° to 0.13° a day. Jupiter's roughly twelve-year orbit against Saturn's roughly twenty-nine and a half does not turn into one fixed ratio of crossing speeds or visit lengths: near a turning point either planet slows to almost nothing.

If the birth time were unknown

The Rotterdam calendar date runs from 23:00 UT on 8 December up to, but not including, 23:00 UT on 9 December 1981. Over that whole interval natal Uranus rose from 241.381266° to a limiting value of 241.441430°, a range of 0.060°, with no turning point and no wrap; the last whole minute, 23:59, gives 241.441389°.

Each mover's turning points in the window, and its positions at the window's start and end, were then compared with that entire natal range shifted by every offset and every 360° turn. For Jupiter the nearest was the forward turn of 25 January 2001, whose level lies 0.19° below the bottom of the shifted range; the window's start and end lie 23.79° and 10.81° outside it. For Saturn the nearest was the 3 May 2008 forward turn, 0.24° above the top; the window edges lie 20.98° and 12.98° outside. Since no turning point or window edge falls inside the range, no birth time on that date changes any count for either planet.

As a separate check, the search was rerun at 145 trial times (every ten minutes from 00:00 to 23:50 local time, plus 23:59), each taking natal Uranus from that one instant. All 145 gave the same visits and directions as 07:50 for both planets. Jupiter's dates moved by 0.26 to 1.55 days across the sampled times, the largest for the two crossings beside the January 2001 turn; Saturn's moved by 0.47 to 1.49 days. Those are spreads at the sampled times, not proven limits for every second of the day. Entered with no birth time, the chart anchors natal Uranus at noon and shows no houses; that is a reference point, not an estimate.

Rounding, and a second ephemeris

The stored 241.40° and the displayed 1°24' give the same value, 0.0009° below the unrounded one. Using it moved Jupiter's crossings by 0.10 to 0.59 hours and Saturn's by 0.17 to 0.54 hours, with no change of date or count. A displayed 1°24' Sagittarius can stand for any value from 241.395° up to just under 241.415°; the nearest count-changing level for either planet is more than 0.20° from every value in that range.

The Swiss Ephemeris, a widely used independent ephemeris, was used only as a check. It puts natal Uranus 0.27 arc-seconds below the chart's value. At all 28 Jupiter crossings, Swiss Jupiter sat within 0.30 arc-seconds of the chart's target; solving each crossing again with Swiss Jupiter moved it by at most 0.026 hours against the chart's target and 0.021 hours against a target built from the Swiss natal Uranus. The 54 Jupiter turning points agreed within 0.32 arc-seconds and 0.011 hours. For Saturn the same figures were 0.35 arc-seconds, 0.050 and 0.021 hours, and 58 turning points within 0.32 arc-seconds and 0.018 hours. These are measured differences for this example, not accuracy guarantees.

Possible themes when Jupiter contacts Uranus

If you use these at all, weigh them beside natal Uranus's sign, its aspects and, with a dependable birth time, its house. They are questions for reflection, not results:

  • Conjunction. Where curiosity and a wish for something new could be given more room.
  • Squares. Enthusiasm for change set against what is already in place; often read as a prompt to test plans before acting on them.
  • Opposition. Your own appetite for change set beside other people's views of it.
  • Trines and sextiles. Often seen as easier times to try ideas in a measured way.

These are interpretive patterns, not destiny. Nothing here forecasts or explains any event, and none of it says a transit brings luck, sudden opportunity, upheaval, accidents, or any work, money or relationship outcome.

For the natal combination, where both planets are fixed in one chart, see Jupiter conjunct Uranus (natal), Jupiter square Uranus (natal) and Jupiter opposite Uranus (natal). Jupiter's cycle against its own natal place is in the Jupiter return, and against a natal Saturn in Jupiter transits to natal Saturn. Another fixed natal point visited by Jupiter over several laps is worked through in Jupiter transits to natal Chiron. For one mover against births from two different epochs, see Saturn transits to natal Pluto.

Working it out for your own chart

  1. Read natal Uranus from the free birth chart and write it as one longitude from 0° Aries. A displayed minute stands for a small range, not one exact value.
  2. Choose one window and use it for both planets. In a Tropical ephemeris, follow each planet through it, loops included and without resetting at 0° Aries, and note its lowest and highest points. Place the eight targets at every level, natal Uranus plus the offset plus a whole number of 360° turns, inside each planet's stretch.
  3. List every crossing with its direction, and group crossings of one target while that planet stays within 30° of it. Keep the two planets' lists apart; a Jupiter visit is never the "same event" as a Saturn visit.
  4. Mark any visit that started before the window or has not closed by its end. Count visits and crossings before comparing dates, and say what you are dividing by if you work out a rate.
  5. If the birth time is unknown, take natal Uranus over the whole birth date, including any turning point or wrap, shift that whole range by each offset and 360° turn, and check whether any turning point inside the window, or either planet's position at the window's start or end, falls inside it.

About the checks behind these numbers: Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus carry no date limit in the free chart. The repository compares each with Swiss at noon on every day from 25 December 1919 to 8 January 2061 and pairs every station. In the runs for this batch the largest daily differences were 3.78 arc-seconds for Jupiter, 3.70 for Saturn and 3.80 for Uranus; all 258 Jupiter, 272 Saturn and 278 Uranus stations were paired, the worst 0.013, 0.026 and 0.030 hours off. The test limits are 0.05° (with a tighter 8 arc-second regression check) and 0.03, 0.055 and 0.065 hours. Those compare noon positions and station times; they are not transit-date accuracy figures.
