Saturn Transits to Natal Venus: Dates, Passes and a Station Birth
Updated October 22, 2026 · Astrologist.com Editorial
Saturn transits to natal Venus are the stretches when Saturn, as it moves, forms a conjunction, sextile, square, trine or opposition to your birth Venus. Natal Venus is fixed. Saturn advances about 12° a year and spends part of every year moving backward, so in examples like this one a given point is often crossed once or three times. When Saturn stations exactly on a point, two crossings merge into one stationary touch, so the count is not always one or three; check the individual point and any station near it.
In astrological practice Venus speaks about what you value, how give and take is balanced between you and other people, the commitments you make, and what you enjoy. Saturn contacts are often used as a prompt to test those things against reality: which values you act on, which arrangements are reciprocal, which pleasures you still make time for. These are interpretive possibilities. They do not predict what happens in any relationship.
Educational guide: Astrologist.com has no transit calculator, transit calendar, return chart or automated timing report. Its free birth chart calculates the natal chart and nothing more. The dated example here was computed offline for this page alone. To date your own contacts, read natal Venus against a Tropical ephemeris.
The contact points
Express natal Venus as degrees from 0° Aries; 11°42' Virgo, for example, is 161.70°. Saturn's contact points are natal Venus plus:
- 0° for the conjunction and 180° for the opposition;
- 90° and 270° for the two squares;
- 60° and 300° for the two sextiles, 120° and 240° for the two trines.
Subtract 360 whenever the sum passes it. Each pair gives two separate places in the zodiac, so "Saturn square Venus" can mean either of two points, reached years apart. Several exact dates on one point, caused by a retrograde loop, still count as one contact.
When this page says "waxing" it means Saturn stands 0° to 180° ahead of natal Venus in zodiac order; "waning" means 180° to 360° ahead. The reference is natal Venus, not your age and not Saturn's own cycle. The labels describe position, and the site's calculator draws no distinction between applying and separating aspects.
Saturn needs about 29.5 years to pass every point once. That is a background figure, not a timetable: contacts fall at uneven intervals, at no fixed age, and with no fixed number of passes. A conjunction to Venus is not a Saturn return either; that term is reserved for Saturn meeting natal Saturn.
Worked example: born on a Venus station
The person is fictional. Positions were produced by running the free chart's calculation code offline for this page.
- Birth: 6 August 1975, 14:15, Galway. Irish summer time (UT+1) applied, so the birth was at 13:15 UT; checked against the Python time zone database.
- Natal Venus: 11°42' Virgo, marked retrograde by the chart; 161.7109° at full precision. Venus had turned retrograde at about 06:20 local time that morning, at 11°42' Virgo.
- Model: VSOP87B for both Venus and Saturn, through the astronomia package exactly as the site calls it: apparent positions seen from Earth, Tropical, equinox of date. Repository code at commit
8e65fafb. - Search window: 1 January 2000 to 1 January 2031, ages 24.4 to 55.4. Saturn sampled every 6 hours, each crossing halved down to under half a minute (a computing step, not a claim of real-world precision), each Saturn station located to about a minute and compared with every point and band edge. Dates in UT, whole days; anything after October 2026 is a forward calculation.
| Contact (offset) | Point | Exact (UT) | Age |
|---|---|---|---|
| Waning square (+270°) | 11°42' Gemini | 26 Jul 2001, 30 Nov 2001, 14 Apr 2002 | 25.97 to 26.69 |
| Conjunction (+0°) | 11°42' Virgo | 2 Sep 2008 | 33.08 |
| Waxing square (+90°) | 11°42' Sagittarius | 6 Jan 2016, 22 Jun 2016, 2 Oct 2016 | 40.42 to 41.16 |
| Opposition (+180°) | 11°42' Pisces | 15 Mar 2024 | 48.61 |
The softer contacts fill the gaps: the waning sextile (11°42' Cancer) on 14 September 2003, 6 December 2003 and 28 May 2004; the waxing sextile (11°42' Scorpio) on 16 October 2013 only, after Saturn had turned retrograde 0.18° short of it on 18 February 2013; the waxing trine (11°42' Capricorn) on 3 January 2019; and the waning trine (11°42' Taurus) on 12 April 2029. Saturn was already within 8° of the next waning square when the window closed, so that contact is cut off and not listed.
One exact date, several band stretches
As a comparison band only, borrow the natal calculator's flat orbs: an inclusive 8° for conjunction, square, trine and opposition, an inclusive 6° for sextile. Astrologist.com applies no orb to transits, and a band is no measure of how long or how much a contact is felt.
- Conjunction: exact once, yet Saturn was within 8° in three separate stretches: 3 October 2007 to 13 March 2008, 21 June to 13 November 2008, and 19 February to 4 August 2009. Its turning points fell 3.1° before the point (retrograde, 19 December 2007) and 3.2° after it (direct, 17 May 2009).
- Opposition: exact once on 15 March 2024, with band stretches from 10 April to 28 August 2023 and from 6 January 2024 to 20 February 2025. Saturn turned retrograde on 29 June 2024 at 19°25' Pisces, just 0.3° inside the far edge, and direct on 15 November 2024 at 12°41' Pisces, about a degree past the point, so it never came back to it.
A count of exact hits, the dates of the band and the number of band stretches are separate facts, and none is a reading of how a person experiences the period.
Does the birth time matter here?
Suppose the time had not been recorded. The free chart would then calculate at local noon as a reference only; it would not claim the person was born at noon, and it would show no range for the day.
Across the whole local date, 00:00 to 23:59 (23:00 UT on 5 August to 22:59 UT on 6 August), Venus moved by only 0.0104°, about 37 seconds of arc. Because it stationed that morning, its largest value came in the middle of the day rather than at either end, so the check has to include that turning point, not just midnight and 23:59. Rerunning every contact with Venus values ten minutes apart, plus the turning point, gave the same pass counts and the same calendar dates throughout.
That is the station birth's effect in this case: a slow natal Venus means a narrow range. It is not a general rule that a station makes things uncertain. Where Venus moves near its fastest, about 1.26° a day, the day's range is wide enough to shift single-pass dates by roughly ten days or more, and a count can change if a later Saturn station falls inside the range of possible points. None did here.
Rounding is a separate issue. The chart shows 11°42', and using that whole-minute figure instead of the full value moves the exact times by two to four hours; in this example only the second waxing-square pass changes date, from 22 to 23 June 2016. Treat dates as good to about a day, and do not borrow houses or an Ascendant from a guessed time.
Possible themes when Saturn meets Venus
Natal Venus's sign, aspects and (with a known time) house colour any reading. These are prompts for reflection, not outcomes and not evidence of character:
- Conjunction. Asking which values you act on and which you only state; deciding which commitments you want to make more durable and which no longer fit.
- Squares. Responsibilities pressing on enjoyment, or an arrangement that has become one-sided. Often read as a cue to rebalance terms rather than drop them.
- Opposition. Your own values set against another person's expectations; a review of what each side gives and receives.
- Trines and sextiles. Commonly described as times when it is easier to put a shared commitment on a sound, practical footing, or to make regular room for what you enjoy.
No contact, easy or difficult, proves harm, success, maturity or virtue. This page does not read Saturn-Venus contacts as forecasts of separation, as statements about money, or as anything to do with a person's sex life. A natal aspect between the two planets is a different thing again; see Venus conjunct Saturn (natal) and Venus square Saturn (natal).
Working out your own dates
- Read natal Venus from the free birth chart, including the retrograde mark if there is one.
- If the birth time is unknown, find Venus at the start and end of your local birth date, and also at any Venus station during that date.
- Add the eight offsets to each value and look up in a Tropical ephemeris when Saturn reaches each point, noting every Saturn station within a degree or so.
- Write whole days and keep one time standard throughout.
The free chart sets no date cut-off for Venus or Saturn. Both come from the same VSOP87B routine, which the code repository checks against the Swiss Ephemeris every day from 1920 to 2060 and at every station; every date above sits inside that span, and natal Venus here matched the Swiss Ephemeris to a fraction of a second of arc. Beyond 1920 to 2060, read natal Venus and moving Saturn from one outside ephemeris, using apparent, Earth-centred, Tropical positions in one time standard. The free chart's Chiron and Pluto date limits belong to those bodies alone.
See how to read transits without a transit tool for the general method. Ask the Astrologist can talk about natal Venus with you, or about dates you have looked up yourself; the chat does not compute transit dates.
